Easy to say when you got state laws and NHL executives playing in your favor

no one gave a fuck about state tax laws for 20+ years. that argument is getting stupider by the day. sure it plays a part, but are we so serious about it being the main reason?

No the main reason is that you have an NHL executives son in one of your management positions #nepobabies

You’ve become the NHL Chiefs. But even Chiefs fans, as annoying as they are, don’t get butthurt by the hate

I wasn’t being pissy??? i just said the tax argument was dumb 😭 i don’t care about the hate, honestly, it’s kind of funny

Is it really that dumb though? No one likes paying extra taxes. That applies to NHL players too. Hell I almost took a job in FL and that was definitely one of the pros

i think it’s part of it, but not the main reason. sure you can pay your guys a little less, but you’re living in a southern market. you’re not far from the beach, great weather, coldest it gets is 50-60 degrees in winter, don’t have huge amounts of pressure as you would in other markets. also, these guys have kids, our higher education is growing better in the state, broward has great (assuming private but some great public) education where you can find it. def a factor, not the main reason.

I’m sorry if I was rude. I’m just a certified panthers hater. It really hurts to see your cities most beloved athlete join your biggest rival and act like 15 years never happened. Especially when the entire league that HATED him that whole time loves him all of a sudden I love that Marchy has found success in FL and I love that the sport is growing there! I just want this Panthers window over already 😭

no worries, i am a south florida sports fan and pretty much all of boston sports reigned havoc on us for years. it sucks to see your stars find success in a rival market, and become beloved, but if it’s any consolation, marchy is a player i loved to hate but would (and haved) loved him on my panthers. totally understand but i’ve been with this team since 2016, and almost every south florida sports has been cursed by bad management. i like to see that we’re flipping that switch to good management

Is this what it felt like when LeBron left?

Hmmm. No i don’t think. i think LeBron leaving was a great decision on his part. Lebron left willingly, Marchy was given away by Sweeney. I think a more accurate parallel would be Lebron leaving the Cavs in 2010, but LeBron was hated after that until his return.

Fair assessment. Would you say that claims that most Panthers fans are bandwagons are accurate?

Not most, but a lot, if you’re gonna grow the game in a southern market you have to start somewhere? I know a lot of people don’t like bandwagons, but hockey is growing down there, which is great for the NHL. I remember the days of BB&T arena and sitting down behind the glass with my family of five for almost nothing, but it’s great to go to games and see the seats filled. A lot of the panthers fans i’ve met (both ones that have been there from the start and “bandwagons”) have been so fun!

The city has also given a lot of support to the panthers for growing the game, but the panthers probably definitely bring in *some* tourist revenue for sunrise + Ft. lauderdale

I went to a Bruins-Panthers game in Sunrise in Feb 2023, so right after y’all won the presidents, and it was 60% Bs fans. I know that’s not a fair comparison because Boston teams have massive fanbases, but still. I always follow up Panthers hate comments by clarifying that I hope I’m wrong. I genuinely hope these fans are here to stay and don’t dip out again when the window ends. I guess time will tell

It also helps fuel the rivalry that half of the people moving to FL are coming from New England lmao

The tax argument doesn’t make any sense to me here because the guy they gave it to is in Texas

Oh Fs. But some of my favorite neighbors/transplants are from Boston) but New England-ers(?) are some of my favorite people to joke around with sports wise! And def up there on my list of fav transplants… (even though i dislike them all). It will be so sad to see if these are bandwagons bc this front office is literally so good. The rest of south florida sports front offices makes me wanna throttle myself into the nearest brick wall going 90mph!

but also it helps that Boston Sports for the most part, seems to be entering the pitts of despair, so it all works out

You’re actually super chill. I’m sorry I was such a dick to you 😢. My family has a place in Boca. We don’t use it super often but I won’t deny it’s pretty amazing down there.

LMAO no worries abt being rude i’ve been told to kms by Bill’s fans at the ripe age of ten going to a football game with my dad (Bill’s fans are the absolute worst, boston fans are fun to tailgate and drink with). As for the Drake Maye experiment, I truly wish the Patriots the best. And if you don’t want to be bottom of the division, just give Tua a pat on the head and we won’t have our QB1.

Also side note but that behavior is literally disgusting from those Bills fans. I know two people that work for their org so I don’t hate them the way a Pats fan should, but that’s horrible. Number 1 and 2 rules of heckling are 1) leave kids alone and 2) don’t make it personal. It’s all supposed to be in good fun

Agreed! Sports rivalry’s are so fun, but never supposed to be personal. I go to a SEC school and when our rival school faced a tragedy, a lot of our students did things for people affected. I like to think that yeah, we have our l little rivalry’s in sports, but when push comes to shove, we all love the sport and the people who support it, that make it up, so we’re like a family at thanksgiving dinner w our ribbing and shit.

I’ll never forget the outpouring of love and support that came from Yankees fans following the marathon bombing. For different reasons, I’ll also never forget Blackhawks fans printing out shirts that said “Chicago stronger” after they beat us in the cup that year.

:/ That’s fucked up. There’s bad apples in every fan base (and definitely some in mine), but i don’t think you should joke about stuff that shook an entire city (entire country too) to its core. At the end of the day we all come together to watch and support a sport we love, and at moments they can bring out the best in people, but also, unfortunately the worst
