i think hockey romance in general has kind of been a plague. i don’t care what people do in their own circles but seeing people saying sexual things about players or shipping them under official posts or comparing them to fictional characters in romances is really gross

I’ve been a hockey fan for years and also read hockey romances and I am able to separate the two. The parasocial relationships people have are so toxic and it’s ruining something that could be great

I’m right there with you. It’s incredibly easy to not be a creep (even if you love hockey romances, of which I do) and blend fiction and reality. These people (predominantly women) explicitly choose to act this way because they think they can get away with it because they’re women and it’s “not serious”. And I say this as a woman myself.
