I feel like saying this is really just arguing that a player in the losing team should never win it, which I might agree with, but considering that there is precedent for losing players winning the Conn Smythe I think McDavid’s run was so historic and dominant that he deserved jt

I don’t even think that tbh, I think Barkov was as dominant defensively as McDavid was offensively (including neutralizing McDavid’s line when they were on the ice together) across all 4 rounds and just didn’t get credit for it

It wasn’t just McDavid either, he actually managed to perform better against the Panthers than most did that year. Barkov shut down Kucherov, Pastrnak, Marchand, Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider… saw it this year too with the Leafs, people were ragging on them for “not showing up” but it’s not that as much as it is the Panthers (and especially Barkov) keeping them from showing up.
