being nonbinary as a musical theatre major is the worst everyone at my school is trying to force me to be a man (i'm amab) and don't even let me lean into my queerness for anything i do here it pisses me off i can't wait to be done with theatre school

That sounds extremely frustrating. If there’s not enough guys they should rotate making people play men not just you.

I always put down that I’m comfortable playing any role and they only ever cast me as my sex assigned at birth.

and i so understand that because of the gendered state the performance world is in, i will have to play male characters often. i just wish i could have more chances to be openly and freely me without a teacher telling me i need to act and sing like a man

no i hate it because "i'm fine playing any role" and then they put me in the most masculine track/role in the show and force me to make my voice sound deeper for the roles im playing im sick of it
