Hi! So just diving right into it. Mentally, I have always felt like a woman/girl. I feel a verg strong resonance with being feminine and can only picture using she/her pronouns. However, physically I have always had issues and I can’t tell if this is gender dysphoria or body dysmorphia. When I went through puberty, for like a year I wore 2 sports bras to try to hide my breasts. Even now, I don’t like that my chest isn’t flat and there are many traits I find myself wishing I had that are…
I can personally relate to a lot of the things you said, including being on the aro/ace spectrum. Personally, I feel comfortable just using the general umbrella term of nonbinary, since that broad label feels good enough for me, although I’m not necessarily opposed to being called/thought of as a Demi girl
Typically considered more masculine (ie taller, more muscle definition, more angular facial features.) in professional attire I love button up shirts that aren’t super feminine, but I also LOVE a cutsie dress. It really depends. I wonder is this is related at all to my asexuality that maybe I’m just uncomfortable with bodies in general? I also think I’m somewhere on the aromantic spectrum which is making it really hard to figure out if I even have a romantic gender preference. (Only dated 1 guy)
I’ve wondered in the past if I could be non-binary, but the fact that I don’t fully identify as agender always makes me think I’m not. So the discovery of this in between is raising the questions again. Does anyone else have the same experiences? I’m I a demiwoman or just more butch?
As for if you’re specifically are a Demi or just more butch, I can’t really say? For one, I don’t think those things are mutually exclusive. And two, preferring certain types of gender expression, like more traditionally masculine things + flattening your chest, doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be nonbinary if that label doesn’t resonate. This is probs not a great answer, but it’s something you’ll probably have to like gradually get a feel for yourself as you think more abt it.
Thank you for the response! I really appreciate your insight. Yeah I think my biggest struggle is that these things aren’t black and white and I do prefer when things are more clearly defined. I had the same difficulties when realizing that I was aro (more like demiromantic honestly) I don’t think personally that nonbinary fully resonates but it also doesn’t not. It just feels a little too neutral. This may change as I consider it, …
will say that I’ve become much more comfortable with myself in all aspects since moving away from my family and forming a very close knit friend group. We’re very found family core and encompass a wide variety of identities 💕 definitely the most comforting dynamic I’ve ever had which has helped me to open up about some identity things without fearing judgement. My family knows I’m ace, though I only told one of them :/ but that’s been fine so I’m not sure why I worry.
