The 335 Years’ War was a result of the English Civil War. The Royalists had retreated to the Isles of Scilly, while the Dutch were allied with the Parliamentarians. Dutch Lieutenant-Admiral Tromp traveled to the Isles of Scilly to demand reparations for damages done to the Dutch navy. When the Royalists refused, Tromp declared war on the Isles. A few months later, the war ended. The Treaty of Westminster never addressed this declaration of war, and thus it stood for 335 years.
