I got picked when I was 18 and couldn’t go bc I had plans to be in another country then they basically immediately summoned me again and I went and was dismissed right away

I got a letter calling me for jury duty when I was living abroad and my parents had to explain why I couldn’t be there 😃

I always just say I have school or work that day. I’m not doing jury duty 😂

Glad I wasn’t picked, it was just some motorcycle that they tried to pull over for speeding and they led them on a chase I think

Does “not getting picked” mean you had to sit for the whole trial but not get to take part in deliberations?

No I didn’t get to see a courtroom. They picked jurors for the cases and towards the end of the day they’d send out groups of us that weren’t needed

I waited 9 hours not to be called😐

Dumb question but do employers usually pay you when you have jury duty? Like free PTO? Bc in that case I’ll lowkey take sitting in a courthouse for hours over after having to do work any day

It depends on the employer. They’re legally required to give you the time off like a free PTO day but pay or not depends on the state or if it’s a benefit of your salary job like mine

It was not fun there were so many people I basically sat in the same spot for 9 hours besides the one hour break u were allowed to leave
