Dating = bf gf going out with = getting to know/going on little dates still

In my mind, the venn diagram is a circle in a circle, with the “bf/gf” inner circle taking up like 90% of the “dating” outer circle

Honest to god depends the context, bc I’ll past tense use “dated” to mean went on dates, but if you’re not bf gf I think “going out” might be a better phrase
