Only if I rub my closed eyes, those are called phosphenes I think

Not static but I get floaters/color spots often even unrelated to these things, counting myself as an outlier either way though (and before anyone tries to diagnose me with anything I know the cause and am fine lol)

Yall need to do a flash test on your eyes at some point in your life. Like crazy flashes. I’m talking EEG flashes. Cuz holy fuck ive seen colors and shapes i never knew my eyes could create. Felt like i could see the fucking individual cells in my eye lids

Interesting — TIL the static is visual snow syndrome (and not something everyone sees) which apparently only 2% of the population has but I doubt that figure

Also, the “default color” that’s usually seen in total darkness with eyes closed is called eigengrau!

I figured thats what you were asking about! I think with vision specifically ppl can definitely ignore things or they can go under diagnosed bc our brains get so used to how we personally see that we consider that normal even if it maybe isnt, im sure a bunch of vision based stats are off

it most likely varies widely in severity, even if most people have a little bit of static it would make sense for just 2% to have it bad enough to go to the doctor and get diagnosed
