Who decides when it’s moral? It’s either against the law or it’s not. There are legal ways to enter the country, and the people who put in the work to do that are the type of people we want in our country.

Technically, to be clear, in the United States it's considered a civil penalty to illegally cross the border, not a criminal penalty.

This is just factually wrong. Entering the country illegally in the United States is at minimum a misdemeanor and depending on other aggravating circumstances can be a felony. It’s not a civil penalty.

By b, you're correct, I'm getting two different situations confused. Crossing the border illegally is indeed a criminal offense. Overstaying a Visa or a similar condition of stay is the civil violation.
