Depends on the conflict and who’s in charge.

Story time: I had a brain tumor, which is fine now, but it gave me vision problems. Watch how MF QUICK those vision problems come back after getting that draft letter. I would walk up to the recruiter with an MRI scan, sunglasses, and a cane. Like, “I am ready to serve🫡. Btw, these is my VERY long list of medications the army must provide for me so I don’t die”

If we are going to war anyway I would rather enlist so that I can choose what I want. I would go into rangers or seals.

I’d “comply” but I’d be like one of those hippies they sent to ‘Nam just an absolute liability the whole time

Doesnt matter whose in charge at that point, both political parties would have to decide it was necessary

Thats not how it works, don’t really get to choose. You can choose your branch and you can try for those but odds are you’ll fail out of them

That’s why I said I’d enlist first so I wouldn’t be drafted. Also I wouldn’t fail out of them I’m fairly confident of that. If I do then I’m just in that branch anyway.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nationalguard/comments/1b8yf53/the_recruiter_i_spoke_to_told_me_i_cant_be/ I feel like this is a good explanation. And at least for me, I cant be deployed, as per the cadet contract I signed that sets me up to be an officer...

So your plan is to get yourself and a bunch of random people killed instead of being a conscientious objector

They don’t actually let you flake out just because you tell them you’re a conscientious objector. You think all those hippies were in nam cause they wanted to? If they did, they wouldn’t have had to draft them

Vietnam is an interesting case study. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fragging

Thatsa good point, since you can just get a non-combat MOS and pretty much skip being on the battlefeild
