Astronomical and il fucking die on this hill. "Metrological" is completely subjective. Early september in socal isn't autumn, it's the hottest month of the year here. March and April up north could be considered winter meteorologically. Astronomical meanwhile is precise and objective

i mean yeah if your goal is to be precise and scientific then do astronomical but if i’m just casually thinking about what season it is, i’m not going “well it may be 25° and all the trees have shed their leaves and christmas is in 2 weeks but the winter solstice hasn’t hit so i guess it’s fall.” meteorological is more pertinent to daily life
