I have mostly mild IBS symptoms but doc recommended colonoscopy. I said I wasn’t sure I wanted to do that, but I’m conflicted: I’d like the peace of mind and not having to worry. Should I call Mon and say I want to do it?

If the doctor recommended a colonoscopy you should do it. They are the health professional and it’s better to be safe.

The feeling of being cleaned out inside is wonderful. Do it. Then try eating cleanly afterwards (reduce processed foods and drinks, prioritize Whole Foods).

I think you should post more about it on social media instead of talking to licensed professionals!

How old are you and what is your family’s history? I faced the same decision as you and just went with the meds, but if you’re higher risk for something more dangerous then get the procedure done

I just hate the idea of “prep” even tho ik it’s only for a day. Ughh. I should just get it out of the way. You’re right

As someone who has to get one once every 2 years the prep may be rough, but not too bad. And the first post op meal always tastes phenomenal 👌 More importantly, if you have stomach-related problems such as IBS and the doctor recommends a scope I say at least get one so they can help better and see where you are! I think it's worth at least considering...

27, but no family history aside from my Aunt on my mother’s side having colon cancer but that’s too far removed to be a generic factor for me My mom claims she had IBS or something similar but I’m not super sure. Rn, no one else in my family has any history of stuff like IBD or cancer I FEEL like the meds are working (Amitriptyline) but I’m not cautious still. Waiting to see if it’s actually helping

Sun went down about an hour ago, I’d recommend you go see your doctor, if you are still worried about it! Maybe a therapist too cuz it seems like my harmless trolling is getting to you

You don’t troll people who are asking for legitimate feedback on something potentially serious. You need to get out of your mother’s basement, get a job, and find somewhere else to release your pent-up autism. You’re not cute, you’re not funny, and you’re not trolling—you’re just an ass

Well I appreciate the feedback, but I’m not the one asking for advice on a random app… I’ll keep those in mind though!

You sound low-risk in that case. It took me a couple meds to find the right one (dicyclomine first and then hyoscyamine currently) but from what it sounds like I don’t think you’ll need a colonoscopy. Again though I’m not a doctor
