I tried to choose people who, no matter what you did to make up for it, the person who had the body before you has already done enough damage to cause lifelong repercussions. It’s sad how many public figures I could’ve chose from. I think Sydney’s is the easiest to bounce back from though in the long run.
The bath water thing is weird but also isn’t actually hurting anyone. The only real issue with being her is that you have people hypersexualizing you, but she also fully embraces that and leans into it. Nothing she’s done (that the public knows about) has ever been illegal or hurt anyone.
They knew what they were doing with the ad, it’s a million dollar marketing team made by professionals who aren’t oblivious to the political state of the world rn (jaden smith ahh). They purposely worded it that way. They purposely chose Sydney who was already having controversy and isn’t politically neutral. So what 4 thinks of the ad is what they wanted people to think (tho maybe less extreme). But they wanted it ambiguous enough that you can’t really prove it means anything, it’s just a pun.
It seems like it’s hurting AE but in the long run it’s helping them. Other companies have tried strategies like this before when they’re in crisis like AE was before the ad. It seems like their sales are going down now but in the long run they will be fine, it’s a huge brand, and maybe come out stronger
What controversy with her was going on before? All I know of is that they found her registered as a Republican for voting after the ad played to further use it as “evidence” of it being a racist ordeal. Most public figures aren’t politically neutral and they have as just as much of a right to have their own views and opinions as the general public. From what I’ve seen she hasn’t openly shared those views as having that much influence and using it for politics as someone who isn’t a politician
The controversy is that she was “setting women back” with how she willingly sexualized herself by selling her bath water. I’m not a woman so I never had the right to put an opinion on this it’s just what I’ve seen women say. And you’re right I had to look into again and the case was she wasn’t openly sharing any views but people were speculating based on a picture of her at her moms birthday where, just like w/ the ad, ppl made nothing into something
