Organized religion is generally bad. Most of the biggest issues with Islamic fundamentalism are present in Christian and to a lesser extent Jewish scripture as well. It’s all just a result of differing material conditions in much of the islamic world compared to Europe. There are millions of fundamentalist protestants in the US that would be totally down with a wahabist interpretation of sharia if only it wasn’t associated with islam (which they are rabidly afraid of)
The terrorist groups claiming to be islamic is a bad look, but then again there were the christian crusades so they're not alone, just more recent. Religion is often a source of consistent morals and can help people determine their life directions, a few folks crashing out and waving a flag isn't enough for me to start hating. Religion is the only reliable way to determine what's right or wrong, so generally I think it does more to help than to hurt.
