I chose the forest: Arctic island would have scarce resources and likely extreme weather (cold). Tropical island sounds amazinggg but resources and fresh water could be limited. Desert oasis, still really hot and very smol. Mountain hamlet could be good but no snow for freshwater in summer Forest has cover, plants and animals, water, and even medicinal plants! That’s my reasoning for each 🙂
Tropical island and mountain hamlet would be my other contenders but I think both would feel “suffocating” to live alone for me bc in the mountain hamlet, you’re kinda stuck at the edge of a mountain & on the island ur stuck on the island. You can feel the smallness of your reach. Even if you can only reach the same amount of physical space in the deep forest, there’s much more visual variety bc you can never see all of it at once (unlike i.e. a vantage point on a mountain).
Like how breaking up a studio apartment w/ dividers makes it feel more spacious bc you have distinct spaces to explore. When I can see the whole box at once, feels more akin to being stuck in a prison cell (no matter how big the box is). This would rule out arctic outpost, island, desert, & mountain for me.
I really like your thought process. I picked island because I really like to snorkel and i feel that if you’re stuck in a place with not a lot of stuff to do, snorkeling is a good way to pass the time and it enables a lot of variety because of how many different types of tropical fish you can find. In a landlocked environment there’s only so many different things you can do
