All I know is I would NEVER teach middle school.
if you HAD to become a teacher or professor, where would you prefer to teach? (say that pay is the same)

tbf my middle school teacher said it was her favorite because like they’re still mostly kids with joy and whimsy who mostly respect authority still but they’re also not like kid kids

….. was it a private school? Cuz I’m a substitute teacher & middle schoolers are by far the worst. Most are fine but even in “good” classes there are still usually several difficult students. It’s honestly kinda scary cuz they’re mentally children but some are bigger than me and I’m a tall woman. So imagine having to deal with immature children the size of grown men or women with a childlike short temper. No thanks.

also you’re a substitute teacher so that probably has to do with how they treat you. but i’m sorry you have to go through that it’s admirable

When I was in school there were still plenty of kids taller than teachers. And elementary & high school kids are actually very well behaved even though I’m a sub. The worst thing I’ve dealt with was some high schoolers asking for passes but even when I said no (according to policy) they just said ok. & that was at a school with a bad reputation.

Literally every sub & former teacher I spoke with told me don’t teach middle school & I tried it cuz I was like “oh it can’t be that bad they’re more mature blah blah blah”. So it’s interesting to me that that teacher felt differently.
