None of these really. Like the same reason I open the door for someone. Because it’s standard practice and I guess I feel pressured because of that but also it’s just the nice thing to do and I don’t mind.

I normally tip bc I know how much shit those people have to deal with on the daily and I feel so bad for them- it’s like a mix of guilty and grateful- like- “I’m so sorry society has made your job hell- thank you for still being nice to me” +Extra tip if they went out of their way and I have extra money in my pocket. ie- the time that target employee searched the entire store for me to find the last one of a very specific plushie I wanted (it was the last one in the region) 🥹

tipping servers 20% is usually because i feel pressure/everyone should but tipping the person making my coffee $1 is me feeling charitable/grateful that im in a spot that i can tip
