Do you ever experience this? I thought it was normal my entire life but apparently I just got a YouTube video on it saying it is rare. It’s called Visual Snow Syndrome.

Seeing Visual Snow is not the same as having Visual Snow Syndrome. Many people see visual snow when they do things such as rubbing their eye, transition from a light to dark place, etc. Visual Snow Syndrome is a more long term, MONTHS at a time to permanent experience. I hate to come across as dismissive, but please refrain from self-diagnosing unless you have talked to a doctor or have done extensive research from peer-reviewed sources.

I also just figured out what Palinopsia is too. I’ll post on that later if I remember too, but it’s when you wave your hand and there is a trail behind it. It only happens to me when I’m tired but I would wave my hand in front of my face because I thought it was cool (I still think it is). Apparently there is a link with palinopsia and migraines which is crazy because I used to have bad ones and they run in my family.

btw theres more fun stuff that comes with this! staring at a road can cause your eyes to make fun swirlies that are most noticeable in the sky, and you can see afterburns of the previous thing you were looking at when you move your eye! ^^

Weird, this happens when I have a certain dim light turned on in my room

For the most part, it’s the same with me, although visual snow in particular isn’t nearly as bad as it was when I was a kid. It looked like a lot of TV static in a dark room.

I’m not at all diagnosing myself but there are many people who don’t see snow at all and they don’t understand what it looks like without a photo.

I’m just surprised because I used to see it all the time in dim situations and just thought it was normal.

Ok, but I dont think you realize you're encouraging people to misdiagnose themselves. Visual snow is common, VSS (a chronic condition) is rare. Again, I hate to be ~like that~ but I feel like you're encouraging people to say "Hey, I have [blank extremely debilitating syndrome]" because they temporarily experienced a symptom of it.

The best way i can analogize this is if i were to post "Have you experienced a migraine before? If so, you have this rare thing called Evil-Headache-Chronic-Debilitating-Daily-Migrane Disease!"
