Why not both? I’m studying oceanography and want to work in coastal restoration, but the ocean scares the absolute hell out of me.

I get anxious in lakes, but only when I think about it. Don’t want a giant catfish to eat me.

Fair I don’t really love lakes either but I don’t really have any experience with them. I think snapping turtles are what gets me😭

Can I ask in what ways are you scared? I took an oceanography course and the lab portion had us out in the middle of nowhere on a research boat and we did a number of things. (I appreciate oceanography but that was hard shit I’m sticking with cetacean research and ecosystem conservation). But I figured a job in it would be so much more intense with diving and all.

I attended a field geology course in Bermuda and realized (in the worst way) that I can’t swim in the ocean which was horrifying. And as much as I love the critters, we don’t know what critters are in there 😭
