If i wanted to have a kid, me and my husband would choose but his opinion why he should be circumcised would be valid I feel

I don’t blame anyone for doing it to their kids, I want to make that very clear, but to me it feels like genital mutilation

Why leave the foreskin on? It caused me a lot of issues growing up. I finally got snipped and regretted not doing it sooner.

i'm cut and i prefer it but i also really don't see the point of it (except for edge cases where it's medically necessary)

Agreed! It’s a big difference so far

pros: (left intentionally blank) cons: •kid could die from it •kid could be in pain for the rest of their life from it •kid is more likely to have emotional disregulation for their whole life from their newborn brain being overwhelmed by pain

have you or anyone you know been affected by this?

yes, I and 2 men I know have painful erections or intercourse from being circumcised as an infant. If the kid wants it as an adult there's a much lower risk of complications.

For me, it's because I don't really see the point! My parents did it for me, and I don't mind they did at all, but I don't know why we should keep doing it given there are very little to no benefits, and it's extremely painful

Thanks for replying! Is it extremely painful? I heard they numbed the area and try to minimize any discomfort during the procedure

Thanks for sharing your perspective and experience! I’ve always heard the rate of complications is lower for babies than adults. Have you heard otherwise?

So to be honest, for me personally I don't remember any pain because my parents asked them to do it right after I was born, and I haven't really felt any pain myself. However, I have heard from some other guys they do something experience sensitivity and pain around there unfortunately

yes. Babies have weaker immune systems and live in a diaper so the rate of infection is higher. Injuries on babies are more serious so the rate of excessive blood loss is higher. Babies foreskin is not fully developed so doctors are effectively guessing how much to cut off, there's no guessing on adults. Babies do not have the neurological ability to process pain in a healthy way and it becomes a traumatic event, adults can exercise autonomy and get a variety of pain management.

Because we are the ones who it actually impacts so we have a more informed opinion as to why it is bad.

I didn’t have any issues with mine, but the loss of lubrication to the glans does impact sensation, and research shows that circumcision removes sensitive nerves. Keep in mind that circumcision was popularized in the United States because John Harvey Kellogg thought it would make masturbation less pleasurable.

yea why leave an appendix in? It caused a few people a lot of problems.

Unless you’re Jewish, there’s literally no point in doing it. Just mutilating your child’s genitalia because you think it looks better or whatever is weird. If they want to have it done, they can have it done later in life, but if you have it done when they’re born then they can’t have it undone.

Unless there's a legitimate medical purpose for doing it, then it shouldn't be done. There's been widespread propaganda promoting it in America for a looong time now, it's largely the opposite in Europe. Also: we're against female genital mutilation at birth, but not men's? There's similarities there that we shouldn't ignore as a society.

It’s also cleaner to leave the foreskin off
