I think this is a good definition but it doesn't cover *willful* ignorance, because some people know very well that they don't know something but refuse to learn it and even take pride in not knowing

Ignorance has the word "ignore" built into it because it's more intentional than that, it's more about choosing to rely on your own understanding without any interest in expanding that understanding. It's when you hold one perspective and have no interest in seeing any others.
