My friend almost never wants to drive by me and always wants to do his plans in his area (45 min from me) and is rarely interested in my plans near my house. Is it reasonable for me to be upset?

Depends on what there is to do in each area

He never wants to drive to my place (but always wants me to drive to his), and when I invited him to a 6am or 8:30am running event in my area, he replied “Bruh.. You’re not serious..” idk, that shit pissed me off.

I mean I don’t know the guy, but no chance I’m getting up at 5am to drive an hour and then go for a run

As an ex cross country runner, 5 AM is a pretty good time for a run. My highschool team would practice at 6 if I remember correctly.

The hour drive beforehand is more the issue imo

Op said they have done this for that friend and/or they stay over the night before and offered the same. They are asking their friend to do something that they have already done and that this friend expects of them, I frankly dont think it matters if its reasonable or not, friend is a hypocrite and being disrespectful

I don’t see it that way tbh, it’s just that one person is willing to make the drive and the other isn’t, likely bc they know that the other one is. I have friends who have stayed at my place and I don’t even know where theirs is, and I have others that are the other way around. I also don’t see anywhere that OP mentioned spending the night or offering that to the other person. I would also still say it mostly depends on what there is to do in each area.

There’s a huge difference between driving 45 minutes into a city or driving 45 minutes to go to somewhere that has nothing interesting.

They posted twice and its in the second post. I think its incredibly unfair and not something a good friend would do to expect someone to go out of their way for you and your wants in a way that you would not do for them. Ive never met someone or been in a situation where thats acceptable to do to someone

I mean one of my friends of almost 20 years, I used to go to his house at least once a week, and he’s never been in mine. I don’t think it’s fair to say that that alone is disrespectful or that he’s a bad friend, that’s just how we’ve always been bc there’s more to do around him. If the guy still genuinely wants to hang out, then you can work it out or meet elsewhere. If he’s doing other stuff that’s rude or whatever, you misjudged the situation and aren’t actually friends.

I can see your experience and understand your thought process I just dont think it applies to OPs situation. Theyre doing the same activity at either place the same distance apart with the same arrangements, OP is willing and 'friend' is not. For the same activity. And same context. Personally I think thats shitty 🤷‍♀️
