As someone who was “physically disciplined”, no. It’s abuse plain and simple and I would never put my children through that.

Worked with me. Got to a point where all my dad had to do to get me to listen was to raise his voice. And no, I don’t hate him now, we’re very close. You have to know when it’s absolutely necessary, you shouldn’t just hit your kid because they make a mistake or do something that isn’t absolutely terrible. It’s something that should be rarely done, but effectively

I also got hit when I was a kid and have an ok relationship w my parents but I think you saying you have no lasting impact from that might be more so from the fact that your definition of normal already involves the after effects
