Hey so medical professional here: IT ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT. Pre-ejaculatory fluid contains developed sperm, meaning conception can result. Sure, you might be lucky a few times- but is the least effective method of preventing pregnancy.
THE PULLOUT METHOD Does it work?

1. The pullout method also does not protect against STDs/STIs 2. Even if the female partner is on birth control, sometimes we don’t know how reliable that is and if she’s consistent with it if it’s a pill. I’m all for trust and women usually don’t lie about that kind of thing but when having intercourse we encourage 2 methods of birth control EVERY TIME to prevent pregnancy (pill + condom; vasectomy + IUD; etc.)

Cannot believe people didn’t know this (as someone who has no medical background but isn’t living under a rock)

They taught us this in sex ed, I feel like everyone should be taught this in sex education. Seems important

I dont think anyone goes around thinking the pullout method is a 100% foolproof impossible to get pregnant type method. But it does drastically reduce the odds of pregnancy inside that fertile window of 5 days.

I’ve had unprotected sex with my bf for like 4-5 years and pulling out does the trick everytime

I thought precum only has semen in it if you haven’t peed since the last time you came?

While urinating after ejaculation may decrease the amount of sperm in the urethra, it's not as much of a full-proof method as true birth control like condoms, pill, vasectomies, IUDs, etc.

Drastically reduce… in comparison to what? No protection? Pulling-out is nowhere near as effective as proved methods of birth control. Yes, women do have a very fertile period called ovulation (which lasts 4 to 8 days usually), but they can get pregnant at any time during their cycle (it’s just slightly more likely when timed with ovulation). My advice is that if you are not ready to be a parent, you need to be using a real form of birth control- not just relying on timing the woman’s phase.

Both. Men who claim they have “fire pull out game” while having a lot of unprotected sex… are likely to just be suffering from infertility or a low sperm count.

Lol wut, obviously In comparison to full on blowing a load inside and not pulling out. Also SLIGHTLY more likely during ovulation?? Youre definitely not a professional. Pregnancy outside of the fertile window ranges from impossible to an extremely low chance (extremely low chance based on rare excpetions occuring at the same time)

Being technically possible doesn’t mean it actually happens

Actually its very possible and not rare to get pregnant outaidenof the “fertility window”. Its possible even on your period! Youre definitely not a professional so stop telling actual professionals incorrect information. Its just higher chances when youre ovulating. When youre not ovulating theres still a very high chance of pregnancy.

I didnt say i was, either way this info doesnt require you to go thru a whole doctorate residency to understand. Stop telling ACTUAL professionals? You dont know this person whatsoever. In general its not possible on period but once again there are rare exceptions as with anything, which all have to come together to happen, including sperm living for more than 5 days inside, short periods, irregular periods. But in general no its not. And with that u just someone that likes to argue.

Please be safer. It’s luck up until you get pregnant. Both having a child ($13000 on average hospital birth cost) and opting for an abortion ($700 approximately) are pretty expensive.

Then use a different form of birth control (like a vasectomy or have the female partner be on a form of contraception). Also, it may feel better for you- but sex is between 2 people. It’s not all about your pleasure. Part of your partner’s pleasure is being stress-free which can include the security given from contraception use.

I was taught in sex ed that it isn’t effective, however, now I know why. Thanks OP.
