What would make someone say they should?

that’s a bit too general of a statement to agree with, but they could stand to have more restrictions on what assets they can just sit on indefinitely. increasing property tax based on the number of properties owned might be one method. But outlawing them outright doesn’t make much sense because they do more than just buy stuff.

Private equity’s purpose us to acquire and hoard as much property and as many businesses as possible to extract every ounce of profit from them. By doing this, they take opportunities and capital away from the public and place it in the hands of their rich clients, deepening wealth disparity. Private equity is a parasite on the economy that provides no real value to any industry.

No private equity firms take bad businesses and make them profitable. They save jobs and existing buildings and keep money circulating. They are usually entirely leveraged too so that’s the opposite of hoarding money
