It’s riffing off of “mama mia” and also the studio didn’t think their largely American audience would know what a taqueria would be and thought taco mia sounded better

America is right next to Mexico that would be crazy if they didn’t know what a taqueria was. Also good opportunity to learn! Taco Ria does make more sense though bc it fits the theme (freezeria, pancakeria, etc) but I can appreciate the idea of the mama mia pun. I feel like they should have done that for italian food though, like pasta mia or somrthing.
