I don’t know. I don’t have all the answers. I just know we execute murderers, so we can execute rapists too. I’m saying we need to be as sure as we can though too because there are plenty of cases where a conviction was overturned because of dna or other new evidence.

No, you should know. Because if you’re going to call for the erosion of your own legal protections then you damn well have better thought it through. Your bloodthirst is blinding you to the obvious issue. You don’t have a single god damn say in the legal process. There is no “we”. There is only the government who decides what the punishment is for a crime. And it doesn’t take a law degree to see that the government is not responsible with that power already (see: 10 years in jail for weed)

Bloodthirst (noun): A strong desire or eagerness for violence, bloodshed, or killing. Yes, that sentiment is a bloodthirsty revenge fantasy. And bloodthirsty revenge fantasies have no place in the legal system. In fact, that’s literally what the legal system was designed to prevent. The sentiment is fine, goodness knows I feel the same way, but acting on those fantasies without considering the many, many consequences is stupid.

You feel the same way as I do? So you also have a bloodthirst? And I never said I was eager for it. We have a judicial system to punish and hopefully deter crime. Punishment should fit the crime. Maybe if the punishment was severe enough it would make others think twice. I know plenty of examples where someone would have driven while intoxicated but “I don’t want a DUI/OWI” came out of their mouth. The punishment was a deterrent. Not the endangerment of others.

I have bloodthirsty fantasies more often than I care to admit. But I don’t act on them and sure as hell don’t try to enshrine them into law like you are. If you aren’t eager for it, why are you calling for it? You’re pretty much saying exactly what lawmakers were when they started the War on Drugs. Look how that turned out. A pedophile doesn’t consider the punishment nearly as much as they consider their desires, the same as any addict. And tough on crime policies don’t work on addicts.

I’ve got more answers than you, that’s clear. You never even bothered to try and answer my question about false convictions or corruption. And if punishments like life in prison with inmates who all want to shank you don’t deter pedophiles, don’t you think maybe it’s time for… I don’t know… a more preventative approach?

Better education for psychologists on how to treat patients expressing pedophilic thoughts, a push for broader public awareness of pedophilia as a mental disorder rather than just a crime, both of these can let us catch pedophiles and treat them before they ever harm anyone. We need to encourage people with those urges to feel safe enough to seek treatment. Because right now? They’re too scared of being reported and becoming subject to the tough-on-crime policies you’re pushing to try.
