Never could follow the formal teaching of home keys and full 5-finger typing. I don’t use my pinkies and my fourth finger is only used for outliers, but I’m still pretty quick and don’t have to look.

Our public library had computer classes growing up and we did them, also got a family computer and I did typing games, we sometimes had a computer lab day at school , so like formal & informal

My middle school used Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing and it was a program my teacher let everyone have a copy of

I had a typing class in middle school, but I was taking a while to get up to the speed of my classmates so I started cheating on the occasional typing speed tests and looked at the keyboard and never really learned as a result. Recently however, I’ve started using a typing practice website and now I can type mostly without looking. Not the fastest, but I’ll get there with practice
