You find a bag of money on the side of the road, away from any civilization, with no id. What’s the most you’d just keep, rather than turning it into the authorities?

Finding a $10,000 dollars cash sounds cool in theory but in practice nothing good comes from taking that money

Usta be, the cops would let you keep it, if no one claimed it in a certain time, but with civil asset forfeiture, they assume any large sums are connected to crime and confiscate it (or worse, they might suspect that the “finder”, you, are trying to use “finding” the cash as a way to launder it)

All printed bills have a serial number on them, so if it were involved in a crime you could be “caught” if you tried to spend it

$100K is way too much. Someone is tracking that or setting it as a trap or it’s not real money. As a woman, I would have to be VERY cautious picking up something this temping that could be laced with a drug. I’m not trying to be trafficked. 10K is suspicious but with the right circumstances and safety I’d take it.

honestly $100 is way too big to pick up too unless it’s in like a super busy area and im in an extremely desperate stage. Honestly would leave that to someone homeless to keep themselves fed for the week

I’m not stopping for anything on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, I’d assume it’s a trap
