Do you think there should be a required political knowledge test before you can register to vote? Not crazy in depth, just basic things like the roles of the branches of gov’t, Constitutional Amendments, etc.

I need a license to prove I'm not too stupid to drive, why shouldn't I need a license that proves I'm not too stupid to vote

No because it could affect groups disproportionately if they don’t have access to quality education

Children don’t. Felons don’t always. People without an ID don’t. Non-citizens don’t. Not everyone can vote, nor should everyone be able to.

That doesn’t mean that everyone agrees with it. It made sense at the time, but there’s no reason that in 2025 someone should be voting who literally does not know what the offices that they are electing people to are responsible for.

bc your right to vote is in the constitution, your right to drive is not

Your right to vote is defended against discrimination by the constitution, but the constitution does not defend everyone's right to vote

That was a reasonable argument when literacy tests were originally banned. It is now 2025. If you can’t take the time to google or ask somebody you know what each branch of government does, you should not be voting.

PoliSci major to explain that we’re a democratic republic. Saying it’s a “republic not a democracy” is a basic misunderstanding of how our country works. I guess you don’t get the right to vote according to this poll lmao

Felons can run for president they should be able to vote, and people without an ID absolutely should be able to as well and have been able to for most of our history. Voting should be a right for all adult citizens, across the board

They should be banned today for the same reason they were banned then, they are inherently discriminatory. Part of the job of a good politician is political education

They are not inherently discriminatory. Everyone in 2025 has the ability to find out that information. Far too often there are politicians elected based on promises that are either not within their power, or are totally illegal. To anyone with any base level knowledge it is obvious. Having totally ignorant people vote makes no sense, and it’s dangerous for the future.

Some people are literally too dumb to be allowed to vote. Sorry, but it’s the truth.
