Being gifted itself is sometimes tossed around as being neurodivergent but like. I’m not the one who said it first and there’s nuance to be added

i wanted to for years my my mom wouldnt allow me, might do it now maybe but ive heard from a few people it can actually be a worse thing to get diagnosed due to discrimination

Nobody has to know about it. If you’re in the US HIPPA prevents anyone from finding that information out (though other countries have similar laws)

Yes but I think if you are on your parents insurance it’s a little different. Like they can’t see what actually happened, but they will still see if there insurance got charged and can ask you about it

I suppose it depends on their situation. For example, if they’re in college, they might be able to get tested, get medication, and take therapy appointments without family knowing. Besides, even if they did find out, I’d argue that the pros outweigh the cons. But of course that’s their decision to make given family dynamics and other factors
