My roommate dropped and broke my hair dryer that we both use. I had gotten it from my grandmother (she had an extra one). My roommate found the exact one online, and it’s $130. I feel weird making them spend that much esp when they don’t have much money
If we do go for a cheaper option, whose responsibility is it to pick it out? (I don’t want that responsibility, they caused this and I’m much busier than them; but still, it’ll be my thing so maybe I should pick it out)

I generally believe people should pay for the value of the item at the time it was broken, but I also understand wanting them to pay for the full replacement cost. I suggest looking for a used one on e-bay or something
