Sales tax isn’t really a pain. Income tax paperwork is awful. I’d rather just have a lower salary than have to do that paperwork.

Sales tax adds up. Plus it’s not proportional to income, so a millionaire pays the same in taxes as a minimum wage worker. The millionaire would basically be contributing nothing

I think abolish one and keep the other, it's absurd that the same money gets taxed when I get it and when I spend it AND when someone else takes it from me. Every dollar is double or triple taxed every step of the way and it takes a lot of steps.

Better yet, nobody can earn above a million dollars. The rest goes towards taxes. Then, everyone is better off, always.

The worst one is property taxes because you can be retired and you still have to pay money on your assets.

How about less taxes overall? The goal of government shouldn’t be to maximize tax revenue

I believe you shouldn’t be taxed on something you have to do like work, however I am fine with taxes on something I can voluntarily choose from. A higher sales tax could take the place for an income tax. Therefore people have more money to spend and choose what to do with.

Taxing goods and services is the consumer voluntarily opting into paying the tax. Taxing wages is an involuntary tax for the majority.

Agreed. You should be able to own your home, not rent it from the government. I understand raising funds for schools and public services but to me they should be collected through other ways other than property tax. Maybe a cut of sales tax in addition to fundraisers.

For example a fire department could hold a fire prevention event where the community can get to know the firefighters. And something similar for the police department where the community gets to know the police officers. And kids get to learn and explore at both events. Builds good relationships and strong communities.

Correct. However taxes goods and services will be something everyone will eventually do at some point. Its also likely to raise more because you have people buying many items or getting many services and paying a form of sales tax on them.

Not to mention all the hidden taxes you pay that are baked into the prices of items like gas, alcohol, electricity
