I’m having a daughter, out of these, which is your favorite name. Middle name will be Adriana due to sentimental value, and last name starts with an L.

Hard choice between Odessa and Saraphina for me. Odessa Adriana is sooo pretty. But I love the idea of calling her Sara but her full name being Saraphina. I don’t like Marian because of the repetition of the “ian” sound

I like saraphina best but I second the person who pointed out the discrepancy with intention of the spelling, like adalina while theyre phonetically correct something about them just looks off written out. With that in mind I picked Odessa but saraphina spelled seraphina would be my personal top pick from this list. These are all beautiful unique names with a lot of nickname potential so unsure why people are being unkind. Congrats on your baby and sending love for safe and easy delivery 🫶🫶

Adalina is alright, and while the spelling is phonetically sensible, it isn’t visually appealing. Adeline is elegant and refined, and still very unique by today’s standards! I’ve only seen Dhelia spelled that way in Indian cultures (your other options aren’t explicitly cultural so not sure if that’s what y’all are going for). Saraphina is Hebrew, and pleasant sounding. Marian is very very old fashioned, but love the literary reference to Maid Marian from Robin Hood! But Odessa is the best imo.

Odessa is pretty. So is adalina, but with Adriana as a middle name it sounds a bit Peter Parker ish. Dhelia is sweet, but everyone and their mom will read it off like dahlia, the flower, or like black dahlia. Saraphina is pretty and phonetically pretty straightforward to say. She will definitely be gifted the book series in middle school. Marian is my favorite, personally. I know a Mari. Someone will say it like Mary Anne though

good to factor in what has a good nickname associated with it - i like adalina because you can get addy/addi out of it

Odessa is a fairly common older feminine name, I think you would be surprised how many names are also towns.

Odessa reminds me of I think a town in Ukraine that got invaded… also isn’t it spelled “Seraphina” (after the angelic seraphs or seraphim)?

It’s good that she’s not your baby then!

We liked Sara better because it does give her the option for a shorter name without changing spelling if she wants. If we end up going with that one, we will think about spelling some more

If she really must have one of the names on the list, I don’t think it’s unheard of to have a nickname that doesn’t have the exact spelling of the full name (Jackie from Jacqueline comes to mind), so you could have Seraphina with a Sara nickname quite easily.

I have had a “not normal” name my whole life. I was never bullied for it. If you’re the kind of person who would bully someone because of their name, then shame on you. If you’re not, don’t worry about it

I’ve had a “not normal” name my whole life and I got bullied for it all the time in my youth. It was traumatic. Unless the names actually mean something deeper than some performative quirky pick, save your child the trauma. And given that ur posting this poll on Sidechat, I don’t think it is.

It’s their kid. If they want to get creative, let them. God forbid people have some creativity with names these days. All I ever see are the same lame ass names over and over Good on you OP for trying something new! And congrats on the child!

So we’re upvoting you bc you had a traumatic experience and downvoting OP bc they didn’t as if their experience lessens yours somehow? Please see the sun

It sucks getting bullied, but that doesn’t mean your experience is the “correct” version of having a unique name. Nothing pmo more than people who use a shitty experience to farm for engagement rather than sympathizing and supporting similar experiences in others. My god

Nothing pmo more than people who reduce people’s genuine childhood self-esteem to “engagement farming.” Kids these days are BRUTAL. And when you’re young it hits u WORSE. Why tf would u subject your child to this? This is not just my experience, I’ve met a lot of ppl with similar experiences, and OML just use ur fucking brain, ppl bully ppl who are different that’s just how humans operate. Expecting them to be nice is just delusional.

It’s the kid’s name. They don’t deserve to be bullied just for their parent’s selfish desire to feel quirky and different.

It’s not a desire to be quirky 😂 I don’t want her to have to be called by her first name and last initial, and I love these names. I think they’re beautiful. Why wouldn’t I want my child’s name to be something I truly love? And I’m sorry, but being bullied for a name is stupid. She will have a middle name she can go by if she wants to. That doesn’t last long. It’s good to have tough skin.

I’m a teacher. I’ve worked with kids for years. I swear this is the dumbest reason to disagree with the name choices. They’ve all been common names and most of them have extremely common nicknames.

yeah i’ve seen so much worse working retail 💀 i’ve posted it before but i had siblings named Tequila, Hennessy, and Jack Daniel’s who all had fetal alcohol syndrome. we also had a Kheryti (pronounced Charity bc apparently her mother thought Ch and Kh were interchangeable). these options are reasonable
