First big historical event I have strong memories of is the 2008 election (I was 7). My grandfather cut an article about Obama and McCain out of the newspaper and gave it to me to read. My family was very happy when Obama won which means I was too.

My strongest memory of Bush’s presidency in when I was like 6 and one of my friends moms asked my parents supported Bush cause he was from Texas like we were, my father then shouted “that son of a bitch isn’t a real Texan he’s from Connecticut”. My dad’s pretty liberal but he’s also very proud of his home state and I think the fact Dubya made Texas look bad genuinely upset him more than anything else.
