I’ll leave a bigger tip for good service but I don’t tip lower than like 18% if it was bad

How about this: We pay servers a living wage and include that in the cost of the meal (I still tip 15-20% standard, higher for better service, but I feel like we should just have those costs included in the price of the meal, ya know?)

Yes because why are you so cheap lmao? If you paid a ton for the food you can afford a bigger tip. If you paid less you may not be able to. Everyone’s payments even out

Nah if the waiter/waitress provided bad service other than being short staffed ie. they were rude or lazy then no they’re not getting a good tip. If it’s a genuinely terrible experience then no tip at all, but I’ve also never been in such a bad situation 🤷🏻‍♀️

Right like. I don’t have a ton of money I just don’t let myself be surprised when the tip comes around. If I think about the cost of going out I already factor in the price of a tip.

What if that person is having a bad fucking day. A family member or pet died. Part of their house flooded. And they couldn’t get off of that shift. Do they owe you a big grin? Are they not allowed to get smth wrong or be delayed? You can be annoyed by it but I just. Don’t take it personally when someone isn’t good, unless I see them putting it on for the table next to me. I’m not gonna punish someone for having a hard time by shorting the tip. That’s just me.
