I've been (hopefully temporarily) hearing impaired from a double ear infection for about 2 weeks now and it's terrifying (not hearing people around me until they're very close/not hearing things clearly to know where they're coming from, and going outside in the dark especially). I hate it but I can still navigate around my house pretty well, drive, and enjoy entertainment with captions. Adjusting to life without seeing would take much longer.

I’d miss being able to live independently. Blindness means being unable to drive, read most print media, safely navigate the world on foot, clean my space, and appreciate the beauty of so many other art forms. Deafness would be awful, and I’d miss music and sound deeply, but it wouldn’t impair my day-to-day life nearly as much (though it would still be a massive disability, obviously).
