If you get married and then find out you’re completely incompatible living together then you’re kind of fucked. Better to find out whether you get along when you’re with each other 24/7 before you make it legally binding

I did not realize my ex had a domestic violence issue until we moved in together. For that reason alone- I will FOREVER encourage living together before marriage for at least 4 months.

The value of marriage is that it is a life-long commitment. In a sense, waiting till marriage to move in together devalues it because it underestimates the significance of the commitment, in spite of the fact that’s it’s often better to test the waters. If it matters you will take it seriously, and part of that is being sure.
