Yeah it can depend on the hotel sometimes but anything nicer than like a best western will usually require you to be 25 in the same way rental car places do

Hotels and rental cars are company policies though, not laws.

That mostly applies to employment, not for customers. Those things fall under freedom of contract. Many business types are allowed to set age limits (both upper and lower) due to risk management/insurance costs. There are some states that do have laws against it for hotels and rental cars though, I think NY is one of them where rentals are available at 18.

I feel like you should have a solid frontal lobe before doing those things too

The study that ppl cite this from ended at age 25. The brain is always changing, they just had to stop the study at some point.

That must be a state law because I can buy DayQuil as a 19 yo

Alcohol is super bad for you actually, but my point was that that interpretation of the study misrepresents the actual conclusions it made about aging and reaching maturity. The conclusion was “we don’t know, we would need to look at it longer”. 25 could’ve been any other age for all we know. We don’t that there is any age when we’re suddenly a true “adult”. So imo whatever age we decide means “legal adult” should be allowed to do everything reserved for legal adults.
