I mean if you think about the question for like 5 seconds you'd be able to think of a thousand examples of groups creating opportunities for people to make friends, and friends making groups.

Groups absolutely can create friendships, the two statements can coexist

Creates opportunities for but something I’ve noticed in myself at least… sometimes you join a group and expect everyone to just like welcome you automatically and then you’re confused about it but then you realize that what creates friendships is the individual connection.
