Texas is basically purple these days. Lots more democrats in the cities who are migrating cuz of the tech jobs. Texas still has its problems though with the power grid and Ted Cruz.

Just put someone in charge who knows wtf they’re doing. Not Gavin Newsom who snubbed his nose at everyone during Covid so HE could go eat at a restaurant. It’s more that this list is bad. If you’re gonna talk about the worst states, do the ones with the worst education, healthcare, highest violent crime rates, and are welfare states that are reliant on federal funding that comes from other states (like the ones listed). A better poll would basically include all the southeast states

And the reason the South is high on this lists is because of centuries of poverty and inequality made worse by carpetbaggers and an incompetent federal government. Just because its a bad state to live in does not mean the South doesn't have the best people, cooking and food, nature, wildlife, and history in the country.

Those are all pretty subjective. I’d argue the best nature is in the PNW, food culture is good, and the people are questionable. Georgia literally kept a dead woman alive to incubate a child after letting her die because she was pregnant, robbing her current son and husband of a wife and father. Those states also have the highest rates of hate crimes, with lynchings still happening to this day. Sure, they are historically poor, but their state governments are actively not improving that

From Native American settlement to the Spanish and the French, from the Republic of Texas to the early days of the Union, yes I would say easily the South has the most interesting, dense, diverse, and perhaps unfortunate history of any region in the United States. If all you can think of is slavery this Confederacy that then you need to read up on the history.

No it wasn’t, by the way gun laws in Cali only exist because of Reagan and his detest of black people and specifically the black panther party. Colleges started charging tuition because of Nixon and Reagan and deciding too many black people were going to college in Cali
