You don’t need to have a friend or someone you know to have roommates. It’s a bit scary at first, but if you can past the fear of living with random people, it can go a long way in life Not saying go to craiglist or a random guy off the street. Try looking to apps/websites/services that can connect people trying to be roommates

Maybe rent someone’s basement? Some basements come with their own private entrance so you won’t have to interact with the home owners. Its cheap and removes the feeling of having a roommate.

Or rent a room in someone’s house if you don’t mind sharing the space.
