So I can weigh in on this one. There is data on FRED that allows us to compute the average net worth of Americans in different wealth percentiles. I had to combine some datasets and do a bit of math, but here it is!

I wanted to give some background data to address the question (While also allowing people to interact with this graph to find out what high-percentile wealth holders had in the past) But I could not help but notice some trends revealed by this data. • Distances between brackets are growing over time • Those with more wealth are gaining wealth the fastest • All wealth percentiles trend upwards over time except for the bottom 50% who regularly experience volatility up/down

I just realized that I made a small mistake. I forgot to subtract out the 0.1% dataset from the 1% and thus over-estimated the average wealth in the 1% class 🟦 Top 1% Avg: 8.4M (not 15M)
