Self employed tips? I am starting gig work (like online ai training stuff) and want to keep finances in order. The general consensus I’ve found is to save 30% for taxes then the rest is my take home.

I’ve basically been jumping between ChatGPT and the IRS website to learn as much as I can.

Can I ask how much you’ve been making?

Relatively new but average I’ve been making so far is 35/hr so far fluctuating between 20/hr projects and 40/hr projects.

30% good (maybe even a little conservative/too much but nothing wrong with that), if you want something more precise would get an estimate on how much you think you’ll make in a year and save based on the fed/state tax bracket you’ll be in. Definitely talk to a CPA if you’re making good money to give you a more close estimate, and they can give you professional tips to save on taxes
