My parents complain all the time about the debt the dogs put them in, because I mean who wouldn’t, but we got 5+ years out of Gmork and 2+ years out of Mazie. We’re all so grateful and happy to have gotten the surgeries

Trust me it is totally worth it! My lab got injured 6 years ago and had to get some serious back surgery and our options was either put her down or do an expensive surgery. We chose going into debt, but she turned 13 earlier this year and is still going strong. Best decision ever, I love that dog :)

Im honestly thinking about pet insurance at this point because both my fur babies have complicated health problems tbh

I wish I’d had it. My partner had lost his job the week before the surgery was scheduled. We used all our savings and lived on pantry crumbs for a while 🤣

Do extensive research first, but cavalier king charles spaniel’s are pretty good first dogs, but they def have high maintenance coats. Make sure you don’t let small dogs fool you and look at breed histories though, lots of small breeds are hunting or herding dogs

There’s really no such thing as “low maintenance” dog. Yeah something like a Yorkie doesn’t eat as much as a German Shepherd, but when it comes to any sort of vet bills they’ll all be costly. Some dogs like Pugs and Bulldogs do have a lot of excessive vet bills and health complications because of their usually improper breading, but that doesn’t mean a typically healthy breed dog won’t get sick or injured or have special needs.
