So background lore: on my first date w my bf there was a moment with no conversation & being awkward trying to fill the void I stuck out my finger to him & said “ET phone home” when he touched his finger to mine. I thought it was ridiculously embarrassing but he loved it & still does it to me all the time.

So when trying to find a name (we wanted a proper silly one) we couldn’t agree and idk one day I said “what about electric toothbrush but we call her ET” and he laughed for like 5 min. Thus, ET is she.
