IMPORTANT!!! A big microchip company (Save A Life) went out of business and didn’t really tell users. If your pet has one of these chips, their chip is now unreadable if they get lost. A vet or pet store can scan and check! Stay safe! ❤️

What are people going to do? Sue a company that no longer exists? Pets are still seen as property in the US so pet protection laws really suck. Microchips can also migrate over time, so I get my pet scanned during their wellness visit. If it moves too much, I’ll get another

They should at least be required to notify users

I don’t disagree! From what I read they tried to notify some users but went out of business so fast no one knew until a shelter had a lost dog with an unreadable chip. I think another unfortunate thing is chips are out of sight, out of mind. How many people know what brand their pet has (I know 1/2 of my dogs)? I just moved and don’t know if the chip has my address or not. I set it up 7 years ago and don’t really think much of it past once a year and know that’s much more than most people.
