Two options for cool thunderstorm photos/video. 1) slowmo mode on your phone, start and stop it after most flashes and you get to watch it branch in slow mo, bring it into iMovie and slow it down further for the real effect. 2) long exposure 30s, high f stop, low iso. If you can, shoot the leading edge of the storms because the rain makes it difficult.
