How do you keep them in good enough light? Do you use a waterproof grow light?

Curious, how do you keep them safe from soap or cleaning chemicals?

I use a standard grow light, but some brands hold up against the humidity better than others. Where mines positioned it doesn’t get water on it, and I try to avoid running a humidifier near it. It’s about 5ft tall and sits just outside my shower on a little stool. My bathroom is well ventilated with a humidity around 70%, only getting higher during showers. If it’s being exposed to more greenhouse like conditions or constant condensation I would recommend a waterproof light.

I haven’t experienced any problems, but I would say others need to be mindful of their home environment. I would NOT recommend a non-waterproof light if it will come into direct contact with water. I’m able to keep my anthuriums happy in leca, which helps them maintain humidity around their root systems. If a higher ambient humidity is needed, I would either get a grow cabinet, or invest in a waterproof light.

Where they sit in the shower they don’t get any soap or shampoo on them, but I do still need to be mindful when showering. As for cleaning when needed I remove the stand and clean around the walls and base, keeping them in the other room until I’m done. So far I haven’t noticed any issues with chemicals elsewhere in the bathroom affecting them. My only note is that due to the humidity plain soil may not dry quickly enough for some plants, causing root rot, so I use chucky mixes or leca.

Hi! I have most of those details in the comments above! A quick summary is that the lights aren’t waterproof, but I’ve got them positioned away from direct contact with water. They do well with the humidity, but it’s also not high enough for condensation to be present consistently. If the humidity is higher, water contact occurs, or condensation is consistently present, I would use a waterproof light

They aren’t sitting inside the shower, and are on either my sink or a small stool.
